Rakesh Sharma Becomes the First Indian in Space

Rakesh Sharma spent nearly eight days aboard the Salyut 7 orbital space station conducting Earth observation and yoga experiments in zero gravity. When Prime Minister Indira Gandhi asked how India looked from space, he famously answered: "Saare Jahan Se Achha".
